SNA in the UK

The Business Networks Research Group at the University of Greenwich applies the methods and techniques of social network analysis to the study of business. Emphasis is both on intra-organisational and inter-organisational networks. Interpreting individual actors, firms, organisations and markets as systems of structured relationships can provide new insight into a wide range of business issues -from knowledge-management and innovation to corporate governance and partnership building.

The Nuffield Network of Network Researchers (NNNR) is an Oxford-based, multi-disciplinary group of researchers interested in social networks, with emphasis on the dynamics of social networks. NNNR closely collaborates with CABDyN (Complex Agent-Based Dynamic Networks), a research cluster focusing on agent-based models of complex systems and their applications to network structures. Finally, Oxford hosts the website of SIENA, an analytical approach and software for the statistical analysis of social network data (both longitudinal and cross-sectional).

The Mitchell Centre for Social Network Analysis is a cross-disciplinary research group at the School of Social Sciences in Manchester. Launched in April 2010, it aims to develop Social Network Analysis methodology and apply it to important research questions in social science. It organizes meetings, regular seminars and courses about social networks.

A number of researchers are active in SNA research projects at Imperial College London, Bristol, UWE, Queen Mary, London School of Economics and Cardiff among other UK Universities.
